Our Process.
Our process is built around clear, consistent communication between our team and our clients. Building a home is one of the largest financial and emotional investments you’ll ever make, which is why we believe the right builder–client fit matters just as much as the design itself. As a small, local builder, we intentionally take on only a limited number of custom homes each year so we can give every client our full attention. That focus allows us to listen closely, collaborate openly, and build lasting relationships — not just houses.
1. Meet The Builder
Our process begins with a
meeting to discuss your
project, vision, and time-
line. We will also go over
our custom design process.
2. Design Phase
During this step, you may provide you own blueprints or work with our team to create ready-to-build plans based off of your vision.
3. Estimating
After the design phase you will pick your selections to match your design style and desired materials. With this we will put together a proposal.
4. Proposal Presentation
We will have a meeting to go over your detailed proposal - a great opportunity to collaborate further and build our relationship.
5. Contract / Construction
Once you are happy with the plans you can sign the contract and construction will begin! Bringing your vision to life.
Our process is designed to ensure your home is built exactly the way you envision it. Steps 1–4 generally take about 2–3 months, depending on how quickly design decisions are made. Step 5—construction—is the longest phase, averaging 6–8 months.
Please note that these timeframes are estimates and can vary from project to project based on design choices, the size of the home, site conditions, and time of year. Every custom home is unique, and we tailor the timeline to fit your specific needs.

Our Story.
The story of Clifford Construction Co. began in 1939, when the current location of our company was purchased by the grandfather of our President, Steve Clifford. What started as a small, family-run operation quickly grew into a trusted name in the local trades. Over the years, the business wore many hats — from plumbing and heating to roofing, carpentry, and electrical — always adapting to serve the needs of the community with integrity and skill.
When Steve’s grandfather was ready to pass the torch, Steve’s father and Uncle stepped in, continuing the tradition of excellence in plumbing and heating.
In 1994, Steve officially took the reins and decided to focus on carpentry and general construction. With a deep respect for the past and a clear idea for the future, he brought together the knowledge and skills passed down through generations. In 1999, Clifford Construction Co. was born — a company built not just with tools and timber, but with heart, heritage, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
